Skin conditions such as eczema could be making you want to cover up to save any embarrassment. It affects many people and severity can vary from person to person. It is best to heal naturally otherwise if you suppress it, it can come back more aggressively. When I have treated clients with eczema it can heal very quickly with some and take longer with others. Here are some of my top tips to heal eczema naturally…

  • It would be preferable to avoid refined, processed foods & drinks. Sugar, gluten, dairy products that are usually linked to eczema flare ups and as they affect the gut in a negative way. Leaky gut is usually detected with eczema so eating a more natural mineral rich diet including bone broth (if you aren’t vegetarian or vegan). L-Glutamine amino acid can help to repair the gut and Fermented foods such as Kefir, Sauerkraut are a beneficial way to increase good bacteria. Otherwise a probiotic supplement such as  Symprove (plain variety), which is an easily assimilated liquid. If you prefer a tablet then Bio-Kult are a good quality and affordable brand, or you can choose one with soil based organisms such as Body Biotics by Kiki. These are available from Natural Dispensary – see details below.
  • Eat natural foods mineral rich foods that are free of pesticides and chemical and choose organic when possible. Warming and easy to digest foods are usually more beneficial when healing eczema as this skin condition is known to be dampening in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Raw and cold foods as well as dampening foods; wheat, bananas, orange, juice, tomato juice, yeast, dairy products, concentrated sugar products etc. may be best avoided/limited. Include lots of vegetables including green leafy vegetables & sea vegetables, although you might want to cut down/avoid the nightshade vegetables; potatoes, tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, as they can aggravate skin issues.
  • Broccoli Sprout Juice is a good source of nutrients including minerals and vitamins and enzymes, to help the body break down fats and proteins. Vegus Foods is the only producer of broccoli sprout juice in the world and it is raw and cold pressed. It contains Sulforaphane which has many health properties that can help with skin disorders. • Taking a Vitamin D supplement is extremely beneficial for eczema and skin health. Many people are lacking in this, especially if you don’t get out in the sunshine or wear sunscreen etc. I recommend Vitamin D Liquid by Nature’s Answer, or Vitamin D/K2 liquid by Thorne Research or Nutri.  Also the spray by BetterYou which comes in different dosages.
  • B vitamins are recommended for the nervous system so ideal for skin issues that are caused by stress. The most cost effective way to get your dose of B vitamins is by taking Brewer’s Yeast. The ones I recommend are The Health Aid Super Brewers Yeast as they have no fillers and very reasonably priced. They are available from Natural Dispensary – see details below.
  • Use natural hair & body products, deodorant, toothpaste, cosmetics, cleaning products etc as the chemicals contained in non-natural products have a negative effect on the liver, gut and other organs that can cause skin issues such as eczema. Some of my recommended brands are Dr Bronner’s for natural soaps etc, Aubrey Organics for natural toiletries, Pacifica cosmetics, Lafe’s deodorant, Weleda and OregaFresh-P73 Oregano toothpaste. These are available in the UK at Natural Dispensary – see details below.
  • Relaxation is beneficial for eczema as when you are stressed it can induce flare ups and aggravation of symptoms. Include some gengle exercise you enjoy such as walking and Yoga, Qi Gong or Tai Chi are beneficial. Yoga Nidra practice, meditation and massage is also conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation.
  • Toxaprevent, which is a very clean form of Zeolite aka Clinoptilolite that acts like a sponge to absorb toxic substances including heavy metals, histamine, ammonium etc. You can take internally in capsule and powder form. Also Toxaprevent Skin Suspension can be used as a treatment for severe skin problems such as Eczema. It contains two incredients MANC and Colloidal Water. Colloidal water allows the MANC to penetrate deeper underneath the skin surface, to remove any histamine which causes the itchiness and redness accompanied with the conditions. For more details see the website http://www.toxaprevent.co.uk/  Quote code 10258U9GI to get a 10% discount and also free shipping if you spend over £40 (worth over £6). You can call the company on 02476 363873 to get a personalised protocol for any specific conditions. Quote code or recommended practitioner Julie Silver to receive the discount and free shipping.
  • SOS Advance is beneficial for skin health and helps to clean the blood from toxins, fungi, viruses etc. It is recommended that you take a course of 3 bottles You can get a skin tonic and skin wash to use on the skin. You can read about the products on their website: http://www.sosessentials.com/ and if you call them on 01274 615914 and order over the phone then you can get a 10% discount if you mention Julie Silver as the practitioner who recommended you.
  • Activated Charcoal is very beneficial to take if you are experiencing a detoxification reaction as it leeches toxins from the lymph, extracellular fluids and the bowel. It helps to eliminate them from the body at the same time reducing symptoms of detoxification. Normally these toxins will cause unpleasant side effects if your glands or organs are weak and will result in symptoms such as skin rashes and eczema. You can buy this in powder and capsule form at online shops such as Natural Dispensary – see details below.
  • Omega 3 Fatty Acids are beneficial to take with eczema and will help heal the gut. They are usually lacking in most diets so I recommend taking a good quality supplement such as Viridian Organic Scandinavian Rainbow Trout Oil, Wiley’s Finest Omega-3 Fish Oil or The Health Factory Marine Phytoplankton* if vegan as this one contains the highest amounts of omega 3 in plant form. You can also buy vegan EPA/DHA supplements.
  • Magnesium is essential for energy and relaxing the mind & body and it is a lacking mineral in almost everyone unless you are supplementing. You can take it internally in capsule/powder form although I prefer the nano mineral water by The Health Factory*, or Magnesium Oil by BetterYou, which is a spray that you massage into the skin so it avoids going through the digestive system. You can get the Magnesium flakes for a bath or foot soak.

*You can buy The Health Factory Marine Phytoplankton and Nano Magnesium in the UK from Noble Naturals. To order and for more details contact Abigail on 01342 457170 or email: support@noblenaturals.co.uk and mention you read the details on this blog as they only usually deal with practitioners.
