Natural Ways to Heal Eczema
Let your skin radiate natural beauty...
Skin conditions such as eczema could be making you want to cover up to save any embarrassment. It affects many people and severity can vary from person to person. It is best to heal naturally rather than suppress it, which can make it come back more aggressively. With some people it can heal very quickly when treated naturally, although with some it can take longer. Here are some of my top tips to heal eczema naturally...
- Eat
natural foods mineral rich foods that are free of pesticides and chemical and choose organic when possible. Warming and easy to digest foods are usually more beneficial when healing eczema as this skin condition is known to be dampening in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Raw and cold foods as well as dampening foods; wheat, bananas, orange, juice, tomato juice, yeast, dairy products, concentrated sugar products etc. may be best avoided/limited. Include lots of vegetables including green leafy vegetables & sea vegetables, although you might want to cut down/avoid the nightshade vegetables; potatoes, tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, as they can aggravate skin issues. Fermented foods and probiotics may be beneficial or may aggravate if gut health is compromised so always start small if introducing.
- Taking a Vitamin D supplement is extremely beneficial for eczema and skin health. Many people are lacking in this, especially if you don't get out in the sunshine or wear sunscreen etc. I recommend it to be taken with Vitamin K2 as well as Magnesium (see details below). Vitamin D3 & K3 Liquid by Nature's Answer or Nutri Advanced, or D3 & K2 capsules by Viridian.
- B vitamins are recommended for the nervous system so ideal for skin issues that are caused by stress. I recommend plant based whole food B Complex from Time Health as they are food state and don't contain harmful additives. CLICK HERE for their website. - Use natural hair & body products, deodorant, toothpaste, cosmetics, cleaning products etc as the chemicals contained in non-natural products have a negative effect on the liver, gut and other organs that can cause skin issues such as eczema. Some of my recommended brands are Dr Bronner's for natural soaps etc, Aubrey Organics for natural toiletries, Pacifica cosmetics, Lafe's deodorant, Weleda. These are available in the UK at Natural Dispensary - see details below.
- Relaxation is beneficial for eczema as when you are stressed it can induce flare ups and aggravation of symptoms. Include some gengle exercise you enjoy such as walking and Yoga, Qi Gong or Tai Chi are beneficial. Yoga Nidra practice, meditation and massage is also conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation.
- Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and chromium cause toxicity in the organs such as the liver, which has an impact on eczema and skin. These come from air and water pollution, foods, medicines, cookware, vaccines, paint, hair and body products, amalgam fillings etc. There are several natural ways to help assist getting heavy metals out of the body and it's usually recommended to work with a qualified practitioner especially if your symptoms are severe. Nouveau Healthcare Toxaprevent products contain pure Zeolite that helps to remove heavy metal poisoning/overload, as well as ammonium, toxins, excess histamine, parasites etc. It could help with allergies, leaky gut, digestive issues, acid reflux, acne, bloating, colitis, eczema, food intolerance, Helicobacter Pylori, histamine intolerance, IBS, psoriasis etc. To get free advice contact them on 02476 363873. - Omega 3 Fatty Acids are beneficial to take with eczema and will help heal the gut. They are usually lacking in most diets so I recommend taking a good quality supplement such as Viridian Organic Scandinavian Rainbow Trout Oil, or Phytality Marine Phytoplankton (available in capsule and powder form) if following a vegan diet as this one contains the highest amounts of omega 3 in plant form. You can also buy vegan EPA/DHA supplements.
- Magnesium is essential for skin health, as well as improving energy and relaxation. It is one of the most lacking minerals in almost everyone unless you are supplementing. You can take it internally in capsule/powder form. I like the Nano Magnesium water by the brand The Health Factory*, or Magnesium Oil by BetterYou, which you can spray and massage into the skin and avoids passing through the digestive system, however, avoid rubbing it in to irritated or broken skin. It is probably best used in the bath or foot soak. You can use Magnesium Flakes for this also. MAG365 is the most bio-available Magnesium citrate I’ve found as it is ionic if mixed with freshly boiled water. I’d suggest to start taking a very low dosage and building up slowly. If you get loose bowels then reduce dosage. There’s a Bone Formula one called BF and includes Vitamin D, K2, B6, Zinc, Boron and Vitamin C. I’d recommend you get the natural varieties rather than the sweetened ones. You can buy these from some health shops, online shops such as The Natural Dispensary (see details below).
